SpaRitual – Twinkle

Yesterday I finally tried out the nail polish “Twinkle” from SpaRitual, which i got in London!

SpaRitual don’t test on animals  (they’re on PETA’s list) and carry vegan friendly products. Their nail polishes don’t contain harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. You can read more about the founder and their philosophy here.

This is a dark blue polish with some shimmer in it. The nail polish is very easy to apply; not too thick or too runny and dries pretty fast! I barely needed two coats to get full coverage, but to be on the safe side I applied two.
Usually I don’t like dark blue shades of polish, but this one is growing on me. Good quality and looks pretty! 🙂

Lavera – animal tested?

Q17. Statement Animal Testing

Ever since the foundation of the laverana company we have neither been conducting animal testing nor have asked others to do so. Being a manufacturer of natural care products animal testing is certainly incompatible with our company philosophy!

Of course, laverana makes every effort not to use any raw material which was tested on animals – as requested by the German Society for animal protection. laverana’s suppliers are expected to prove by means of spot check their non-animal testing.

Unfortunately, lavera as a producer of natural care products cannot give legally valid guarantee for the products of its raw material suppliers. Recently skin irritations have occurred more and more frequently. Now we have to find out whether raw materials that were tested 20 years ago today are still well tolerated by human skin. At the same time the urgency of the use of innovative raw materials becomes more and more obvious. For lavera this means that test periods of established ingredients may be 20 years ago, for innovative products this period most likely is much shorter.

In addition, laverana is a member of BDIH. This is an organization the members of which vouch for following the strict guidelines of “Controlled Natural Cosmetics”. These guidelines include the requirements of societies for animal protection

Lavera is a company that I’ve always thought had some vegan friendly products and weren’t tested on animals. I even got a Lavera mascara while I was in London thinking I’d review it.

Since I got a mascara and haven’t used Lavera in a long time I thought I’d check them up again. Lavera aren’t on any non animal tested lists which suprised me. The products that don’t contain animal ingredients are branded with the Vegan Society logo, but this is what Lavera has written about animal testing:

In other words; they can’t guarantee that the ingredients aren’t tested on animals and to be honest, the whole thing sounds strange. They can’t even say when they last tested on animals. They also write about skin irritations and that they have to resolve this issue by finding out which ingredients (that were tested 20 years ago) aren’t okay for us to use. However, they don’t say how they’re going to do that; through animal testing or not?

Either way, I’m disappointed in Lavera and of course I won’t buy any of their products again.

Inika – Mineral eyeshadows!

Hi guys!

Today I tried the Inika mineral eyeshadows I got at Whole Foods in London, in the shades “turquoise” and “velvet”. I can’t believe how bright and nice these shades are and the eyeshadow is very nicely pigmented! They’re shimmery, but without glitter and are very easy to work with/blend (I’m wearing a primer underneath of course). I only have good things to say about this eyeshadow 😀 New favorites!

They cost $25.00 at Inika’s homepage!

Psst, I’m also wearing Inika’s lipstick in “Electric Red” on the pictures! 😉

Zoya – 3-in-1 formula – Polish remover, nail cleaner, nail prep

Funkar bra! 🙂

When I was in London (Whole Foods) I got this for free when purchasing two Zoya polishes and it’s of course also vegan! 🙂

It has a 3-in-1 formula and can be used as a polish remover, nail cleaner and nail prep before using nail polish.
It isn’t as strong in scent and usage as other polish removers, but that’s a plus since other polish removers are really drying and strong scented.

The bottle has a practical pump as well. All in all, it works really well! 🙂
