• Today’s look – Poppy Karma

    Ansikte:

    • OCC Skin Concealer i “Y2″
    • TiKei foundation i ”N3″

    • ECO Minerals Mascara i “Midnight Black”

    Läppar:

    • Aromi läppstift i “Poppy”

Last week I did a look with shiny, neutral eyelids; if you apply a lighter shade of eyeshadow on the middle of the eyelid and a darker eyeshadow on the inner and outer part of the lid you’ll get an illusion of more shine.

    This is what I used:

    Face:

    • OCC Skin Concealer in “Y2″
    • TiKei foundation in ”N3″
    • Ultraglow, Original Loose Bronzing Powder for contouring
    • Nouveau/Organica Organic Creme Colour on the cheeks

    Eyes:

    • Everyday Minerals eyeliner in black to fill in eyebrows and as eyeliner
    • Aloe Vera Gel (Maria Åkerberg) as eyebrow gel
    • OCC Skin Concealer in “Y2″ as primer
    • TiKei eyeshadows in “Karma” and “Desire”
    • OCC Colour Pencil “Feathered” (white) and “Tarred” (black)
    • ECO Minerals Mascara in “Midnight Black”

    Lips:

    • Aromi lipstick in “Poppy”
    • E.L.F. lip gloss in “Funky Fuchsia” applied on the middle part of the lips (this is an old lip gloss from E.L.F, but read this if you’re going to order from them)
  • Eyes Lips Face – Brushes not vegan!

    Hello ELF!

I’m wondering about your brushes. I just found out that you use animal hair in them yet you have this statement about how cruelty free your products are:

“We do NOT test on animals or endorse such practices. Our products do not contain animal derived ingredients. Beeswax has been replaced by synthetic beeswax and lanolin has been replaced by Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladinpale-2. We currently support HSUS and are partners with PETA in the Caring Consumer Project. Please see our philosophy page for further explanation on our company.” – from eyeslipsface.com

    So this statement isn’t true?
And also, products like your Liquid eyeliners also has small brushes, are these also made out ot animal hair??

How come you haven’t written anything about the brushes and what they’re made of in the description?

I run a vegan make up blog (veganmakeup.se) and I’m very dissapointed in this since I’ve written about your products and telling people how great and cruelty free they are.

I hope this email didn’t come off as rude, I just feel so disappointed right now.

    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Basma

    Och fick det här svaret:

    Hello Basma,

    Thanks for your enquiry.

E.l.f’s company policy was updated a while ago regarding the inclusion of animal derived ingredients in formulas so that any products that may have previously contained animal derived ingredients such as beeswax and lanolin were replaced with synthetic substitutes.

The developers in the US advise us that the stock that we currently hold is now almost all vegan friendly, sourced from vegetable or synthetic sources. However each product now has its own ingredients tab so please feel free to examine each product for suitability.

    Brushes:
Our professional brushes in the Studio range are all made from a synthetic antibacterial fibre called Taklon.
Our Mineral range brushes are all horsehair except for the Bamboo range of brushes which are synthetic antibacterial Taklon
Please be aware that all our standard £1.50 makeup brushes are made from natural horse hair with the exception of our Eyeliner brush #1814, Foundation brush #1801 and Concealer brush #1821 which are made from synthetic fibres.

I hope that the information I have provided is helpful to you. If you have any further questions however, please just let me know and I will be more than happy to help.

    Kind regards,
    Dorian

It’s upsetting that they don’t write about it in the descriptions of the products, and she didn’t answer my question about that either. They don’t say anything about animal hair being used. I feel so deceived.

My advice to you who still want to buy their products is; always read the ingredient lists for the products and don’t buy their brushes! Even if they still have some brushes that are veg friendly, I’d rather support another company.

I’ll use the products I already have (I always read the ingredients before this as well). I wouldn’t trust the brushes in their liquid eyeliners etc either.

I’m gonna do a post about vegan brushes after this as well!

Please share this information! And also email them and let them know what you think! Maybe they’ll stop using animal hair, who knows…

Thanks to Jeanette for this important information!

  • Today’s look – Vampire’s kiss

    Hej på er! 🙂

Dagens sminkning är enkel men snygg! Mycket eyeliner och mörkt röda läppar 🙂

Det här är produkterna jag använt:

    Ansikte:

    • Lush Colour Supplement i färgen “Light Yellow” som concealer
    • IDUN Minerals foundation i färgen “Svea”
    • Everyday Minerals Rouge i färgen “Sprung”, använde ytterst lite

Less is more! 🙂
    • Aloe Vera Gel för ögonbrynen, för lite hållbarhet
    • Eyelid primer från E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face)
    • Lime Crime Uniliner i färgen Quill (glansig svart färg)
    • Manic Panic Collection Mascara

    • E.L.F. Glossy Gloss i färgen “Funky Fuchsia”

    Hi guys! 🙂

So this is today’s look, very simple and vampy with a lot of eyeliner and red lips.

These are the products I used:

    Face:

    • Lush Colour Supplement in “Light Yellow” som concealer
    • IDUN Minerals foundation in “Svea”
    • Everyday Minerals Rouge in the shade “Sprung”, used only a little bit

    Eyes:

    • Eyeliner in black from Everyday Minerals (mineral make up) for filling in the eyebrows, you only need to apply a little bit! Less is more! 🙂
    • Aloe Vera Gel for the eyebrows as well, for some hold
    • Eyelid primer from E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face)
    • Lime Crime Uniliner in the shade Quill (glansig svart färg)
    • Manic Panic Collection Mascara

    Lips:

    • Manic Panic Collection-lipstick in the shade “Vampire’s kiss”, the shade is darker than on the pictures! It’s a very dark red without too much brown, nice!
    • E.L.F. Glossy Gloss in “Funky Fuchsia”

To get a fuller look on the lips, only apply lipgloss on the middle of the lips, very effective! 🙂

Här applicerade jag läppglanset / This is where I applied the lip gloss:

  • Gold and Java

    Hej på er! 🙂

    Ansikte:

    • Lush Colour Supplement i färgen “Light Yellow” som concealer
    • IDUN Minerals foundation i färgen “Svea”
    • E.L.F Rouge i färgen “Fuschia Fusion”

    Ögon:

    • Eyelid primer från E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face)
    • Lime Crime Uniliner i färgen Quill (glansig svart färg)
    • Blinc Mascara i svart

    Läppar:

    • E.L.F. Glossy Gloss i färgen “Funky Fuchsia”

    img_0847c6

    Hi guys! 🙂

Today I did a look with eyeshadow in gold and brown. Gold eyeshadow is great if you wanna have a neutral but polished look. It’s also great with a colorful lipstick/gloss.

These are the products I used:

    Face:

    • Lush Colour Supplement in “Light Yellow” as a concealer
    • IDUN Minerals foundation in “Svea”
    • E.L.F Rouge in “Fuschia Fusion”

    Eyes:

    • Eyelid primer from E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face)
    • Emani eyeshadows in the shades ”Goldfinger” and ”Java Java”; beautiful shimmery eyeshadows that pop (important to apply primer or concealer underneath). Eyeshadows with shimmer are also usually easier to do smooth transitions with!
    • Lime Crime Uniliner in the shade “Quill” (shiny black)
    • Blinc Mascara in black

    Lips:

    • E.L.F. Glossy Gloss in “Funky Fuchsia”

Who said it’s hard to find animal friendly make up?! 😉
